PROVIDER FAQS

What is an Independent Physician (Provider) Association or IPA?
An IPA represents the association of independent practitioners and providers who want to keep themselves away from the politics and the demands of hospital owned healthcare facilities. Physician owned and led IPAs focus on quality of care, reimbursement, and ease of use for the Practitioner. They are more inclined to provide tailored care to the patients in need with the best medical practices to provide quality care. Azure provides some of the highest latitude for a Physician in caring for his patients, alongside some of the highest reimbursements in the Arizona Market.
Is this an HMO, or an PPO?
Azure is an EPO or Exclusive Provider Organization. Unlike Arizona HMO and PPO’s (which often are silent HMO’s) EPO’s contract with just a few of the highest rated Providers in a defined geographic area and refer all patients for that specialty to those few providers. The result is an enhanced working relationship between the IPA, its Medical Executive members, Medical Director, and the contracted Provider. The Benefit of better communication is for the Provider to be heard on patient issues, being a provider and in allowing input from the offices. The higher patient volumes with high reimbursement are then assured for your office.
How do we start the contracting to obtain privileges and be credentialed with the IPA?
We will send you an executable contract and rates once we receive your office administrator’s contact information (including full name, phone, and email). Your executable contract will allow you to single signature your contract, provide an attestation for CAQH and provide any further information to complete your CAQH Data. The document will return to us electronically upon execution. When you finish credentialing, and it is approved by the Medical Executive Committee. Then you will receive an executed copy and a welcome email with instructions on scheduling our customer service representative to Inservice your staff. Once this occurs you can start seeing patients.
How do we bill for our services?
We are like any other payor you bill within your existing EHR under your contracted rates. No special software is needed for billing and the best thing is you can expect to get paid within a 2-week turnaround time once we have received all the necessary and accurate bills and records.
Are there any other opportunities in contracting with the IPA at this time?
Early adopters who are credentialled have the opportunity to serve on various Boards, committees, to influence care in their specialty and area. Equity in the IPA and in ASC’s and Urgent care as well as other ancillary care facilities is offered to the first adopters. There are other opportunities and increased reimbursements that will be to Members.
What is the authorization process?
Patients carry IPA issued membership cards that link to our portal. You can access through our cloud service, the portal or call for patient plan benefits. We are very sensitive to the current issues with obtaining authorizations for your office and we work diligently to prevent such situations.
I have offices in other locations. Can I be contracted in different zones?
Yes. Providers who credential with us can provide in their credentialing package other locations for approval.
Can I have my midlevel such as physician assistants, CRNA and/or nurse practitioners in the IPA too?
Yes. We normally want to contract with anyone that normally bills for their services in your office. When credentialing, let us know these providers to ensure a timely privileging process.
Can we suggest providers or services for the IPA?
Yes. Azure is happy to hear from Providers throughout Arizona for opportunities with additional Providers, facilities, services, and other ventures.
Can I schedule a Meeting with IPA Managers to discuss other opportunities or exceptions to my practice?
Yes. Just call 833-244-6601 and we will come talk with you!
